Diabetic Photoscreening
We are contracted to provide FREE DIABETIC PHOTOSCREENING for diabetic patients in the Counties Manukau DHB area. Photoscreening is an ideal way to monitor diabetic patients for any diabetic eye disease and gives an indication of patients' management of their condition. The process is painless and quite simple and involves photographing the retina (back of the eye) which is then assessed. Patients are recalled at regular intervals for repeat photographs to monitor any changes that may occur. If the retinal changes observed are more than minimal, then patients will be referred to the Manukau Superclinic for further assessment and treatment where necessary. This is a FREE SERVICE, but a referral is required from your optometrist or GP to be included in the photoscreening programme. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like further information on the diabetic photoscreening programme. |
