A comprehensive eye examination consists of both measuring and, where necessary, correcting any focusing defect, and checking the eyes for disease or disorders.

Regular eye tests are important for taking good care of your eyes. At Gary Filer Optometrist, our qualified staff have years of experience as well as access to the latest technology.

Retinal Photography: The latest Canon retinal camera records the structures at the back of the eye and is ideal for the on-going monitoring of eye health.

Computerised Visual Fields Examination: This allows the examination of peripheral (side) vision which is ideal for the diagnosis and monitoring of eye diseases such as Glaucoma, and for investigation of neurological problems.

Measurement of Intra-Ocular pressure: Intra-ocular pressure measurement is important in screening the eye for Glaucoma. We use the latest NIDEK air-puff tonometer with the softest and most comfortable puff of air.

OCT Examination: Our state of the art Optical Coherence Tomographer allows the Optometrist to take a 3D scan through the retina, so that changes that may be occurring can be detected and diagnosed as quickly as possible.

Corneal Topography: A sophisticated 3D topographical mapping of the cornea (front of the eye) which enables early diagnosis of some corneal conditions and is an extremely helpful tool in complex contact lens fittings.
